We have just said goodbye to our amazing Paperworks exhibition, which went down a storm. But we have no time to waste as this weekend sees the start of ‘It’s a Wonderful life!’ – our new exhibition featuring dazzling mixed media work from three Yorkshire artists; Claire West, Sharon Winter and Rachel McEwan. The show comprises and collection of original paintings designed to cheer the soul and celebrate life – just want you need to compliment this beautiful weather. ‘it’s a Wonderful Life’ opens with a preview this Friday evening and continues until August 25th.
We’ve have just taken our first step into the world of film making! We have started work on a collection of films about the artists we represent, beginning with painter and printmaker Ian Scott-Massie. Ian’s film follows him as he prepares for his forthcoming solo exhibition in Wensley Church, and sees him researching his subjects deep in the dales, as well as painting in his studio. The films will allow the viewer to put a face to the artwork they see in the gallery, as well as getting an exclusive look at the working techniques, and hearing first hand about the artist’s inspiration.
We had a great time learning about the process of making a professional short film, from attempting to capture circling Curlews to keeping the tripod steady in the freezing ‘summer’ winds on the top of Penhill! Thanks to Ken Snowden at Proper Telly for the fantastic filming and editing. Our first film is available on the gallery’s website and on Youtube – we hope you enjoy it, don’t forget to look out for the next one!
Ian’s exhibition in ‘Tales from the Dales’ opens on 27th July and will be on display at Wensley Church until August 11th.
Do drop by and see our summery new exhibition and enjoy the sunshine with us.
