This is just a little blog to tell you about an exciting new project Masham Gallery has been involved with, recently, which may give residents and visitors to the Skipton area something exciting to look out for.
Masham Gallery has been working with the acclaimed restaurant and hotel The Angel in Hetton to launch Art in the Bar, a two year project showcasing some of the north’s best artistic talent within the cosy surroundings of The Angel’s bar. Josie Beszant, the gallery’s owner, has worked with The Angel’s owner Pascal Watkins to select local artists whose work will transform the traditional surroundings of The Angel into a vibrant and contemporary gallery space, complete with delicious food and drink of course.
The first artist taking up residence in the bar is Ian Scott Massie, who will be exhibiting a collection of Yorkshire-inpspired original paintings, along with a new book ‘The Dale of Angels’. The book contains a collection of walks, pictures, recipes and stories about the surrounding landscape and has been made in conjunction with The Angel. There will also be three specially commissioned paintings by Ian on permanent display in the bar’s snug. Ian’s work will be on display from October 9th to January 11th 2015, when the second artist Anna Tosney will be unveiling her collection of prints in the bar. Future artists include Hester Cox, Claire West and Paula Dunn amongst others.
