March is here and The Gallery is back to it’s usual opening hours (that’s 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday and 1pm to 5pm Sunday). Many of you will be pleased to know that we have restocked on some of your favourite items, including our vibrant felt flowers. These fair-trade beauties are £1 each and easy to post, making them a perfect gift for Mother’s day (March 22nd – don’t forget!). Currently grazing in our window display are a selection of our ever-popular wooden animal jigsaws – they’re selling fast!
This month we’re getting ready for our April exhibition ‘Four Seasons in One day’, featuring the work of Ian Scott Massie, Lesley Birch, and exhibiting at The Gallery for the first time, Gareth Buxton and Pamela Knight. Derbyshire born Gareth only discovered his artistic talent in recent years, but has already exhibited widely throughout the country, and was a finalist in the ‘Derbyshire Life and Country’ artist of the year award 2007. Pamela Knight is a York–based painter and print maker whose expressive and colourful works have been exhibited widely throughout Yorkshire and Scotland. ‘Four Seasons in One Day’ will explore our weather and it’s effect on the landscape and promises to be a feast for the eyes. To tempt you, here’s a piece of Lesley’s work which will feature in the exhibition, titled ‘Ancient Dale ii”. ‘Four Seasons in One Day’ begins on April 17th, and runs until May 24th. See our website for more details.
